Nov 22, 2012 - dspr 0.2.2
New version 0.2.2
(a perl/gtk game inspired by a Macintosh game with a similar name)
After not working on it for years since I whipped it together back in 2008 and did minor updates in 2010, I have decided to release what is currently known as 'dspr', a game I was inspired to create by a game called Despair that I played a decade and a half ago. (Admittedly, the name dspr was a poor choice, but I have never been very creative when it comes to naming things.) The code is a bit messy, both because I originally threw it together without much of a plan, and because it predates much of what I've since learned about style and best practices. After digging it up, I spent the weekend getting some parts of it that were nonfunctional working and cleaning it up some, and so here it is.
Fun feature: Draw your own world with a graphics program, export it as an xbm image, then import it into the game as a map.
- A Unix or Linux system
- Gtk2-perl (obtainable from CPAN or your disto's package system)
